Moto Guzzi V7 Sport - today's time machine (by Guy ‘Guido’ Allen, September 2021) This ad in Two Wheels magazine (Australia) from 1974 lists the exotic Moto Guzzi V7 Sport at $2695, or a few hundred dollars more than a new Kawasaki Z1 would have cost you. The 750 V-twin claimed 70 horses in a package claiming to be 206kg dry, with a top speed in excess of 200km/h. Prices these days depend on where you’re buying. Finding a clean one for sale in Australia is a bit of a challenge at the moment. There was one advertised on Bikesales at the time of writing, claiming 74,000km, for $27,500. In the USA, one sold last year via Bring a Trailer for Au$19,200 (US$14,250, GB£10,300), while another went last March for Au$21,600 (US$16,000, GB£11,600). They’re more highly valued in the UK, priced at around Au$28-38,000 (US$21-28,000, GB£15-20,000). History and condition obviously play a role in the values, with the very early machines (from 1971) being most highly prized. See the 1974 road test at Classic Two Wheels.
