buell hammerhead 1190

Buell is back, Oct 1 2021

Buell has announced it really is back, with a new model called the Hammerhead 1190 for which it is taking orders from November 1. We last mentioned this model back in February, though at that stage the details were somewhat sketchy.

The new company has no link with marque founder Erik Buell, but it does continue with some familiar and signature technology, such fuel in the frame and a perimeter front brake.

Meanwhile the Hammerhead is essentially a refreshed version of the EBR (Erik Buell Racing) 1190 series built before the company went under in 2015.

Here's what the company has to say about the new toy: "The Buell Hammerhead 1190 will have a Grand Rapids, Michigan built and proven 185-horsepower (138kW) high-performance 72-degree V-Twin engine with 13.4:1 compression, sporting EFI with 4 injectors and exerting 101.6ft-lbs (138Nm) of torque.

"Buell’s unique chassis and braking system is the key to its success on the racetrack and on the road. The Hammerhead has a specialized aluminum Fuel in Frame design which provides strength, lower center of gravity, and added balance unmatched against the competition.

"Buell’s unique single perimeter front braking system reduces the unsprung weight to allow the rider unsurpassed performance and feel during turns. And at just 419lbs (190kg), it’s nimble and quick."
