Ducati 750 GT – 1971
Pondering the ones that got away

We've jumped back to 1998 and this 1971 Ducati 750 GT (at
top) is up for sale via classified mag Just Bikes
for Au$9990 (US$6600, GB£5000) while claiming a rebuild
that cost as much as the asking price.
This was a time when the GT wasn't really on the
collector radar, except among dyed-in-the-wool Ducatisti.
Back then it certainly wasn't experiencing the current
level of demand.
Since that time people have come to recognise this was a
pivotal model in Ducati's history. Today, that same bike
would be worth around Au$35-40,000 (US$23-26,000,
GB£18-20,000) on the international market.
