Shogun's heroes Pondering the ones that got away (June 2023) It's year 1998 and this Shogun Imports ad
highlights the mini boom that then existed for grey
imports of models not handled by local distributors. They included Honda CBR250RR 'Babyblade',
Honda NSR250, Kawasaki ZRX400, Honda RVF400 (see our feature),
Suzuki Katana 400 and lots more interesting stuff. Some, and probably most, were sensational
things to ride, as anyone who has thrown a leg over a
Babyblade (for example) will attest. Back then a good
CBR250RR was worth around Au$6000 (US$4000, GB£3200). A lot of the 400s ended up on the
racetrack and you can't help but wonder how many of them
are still out there. A quick search of
Bikesales revealed three Babyblades for sale, all of
them 1990-92 models with prices ranging from Au$2650 for a
project to Au$7500 (US$5000, GB£4000) for the bike shown
above. See it here. See the Motorcycle Specs
